Alibaba's assistant and model family, most of which is released as open weights.

Qwen (Tongyi Qianwen) began in 2023. Its latest version, Qwen3.8, has 2.4 trillion parameters and was the second-largest open-weight model by August 2026, after Kimi K3.

What it can do

• Conversation, writing and coding
• Real-time voice chat with the Omni models (text, image, video and audio input)
• Generating text, pictures or video with Qwen3-Max-Thinking

How to start

1. Go to chat.qwen.ai (international) or tongyi.com (China), or install the app
2. Sign in and start chatting

Things to know

• Companies earning over $50 million a year need a revenue-sharing agreement to use the largest models
