US orders federal civilian agencies to remove DeepSeek; the order does not cover the public
The US Department of Homeland Security has published an order, signed on 24 July, that bars federal civilian agencies from buying DeepSeek products and requires them to remove DeepSeek's products, and third-party products built on DeepSeek, from their systems, citing the risk of sensitive data reaching China. Agencies have 60 days to ask for exceptions; the order binds only federal civilian agencies, not businesses or individual users.
