DeepSeek updates V4.1 Flash with open weights and opens its search API at $0.75 per 1,000 calls
DeepSeek has swapped the Flash model in its web app, mobile app and API for V4.1-Flash-1017 and released the weights under the MIT licence; it says the new version finishes tasks faster with shorter output, but publishes its results only as charts. The new Search and Fetch APIs cost $0.75 per 1,000 calls each, and searches made through Claude Code or Codex, free until now, are billed from 1 November.
