Nvidia-backed Reflection releases its first open model, but its own scores still trail DeepSeek and other Chinese models
US start-up Reflection has released Beam, its first model. On its own figures, Beam is clearly better than earlier US open models at carrying out computer tasks by itself, but still behind Chinese models such as DeepSeek and Kimi. The weights are due to be released free this month; for now only developers can apply to try it.
