Codex brings coding tasks into isolated cloud environments
OpenAI launches a research preview of a repository-aware coding agent.
A historical account of this event. Usage notes are YLEM editorial analysis; check the provider for current features and prices.
What changed
Each task ran in a separate cloud environment loaded with the repository. Codex could edit files, run commands and tests, and propose changes for review. The original announcement is now explicitly marked as a historical launch post.

What this means in practice
Start with a bounded change and an acceptance condition: which page changes, what should work, and what evidence demonstrates success. Ask for the changed files and checks performed.
How to read the result
A passing command is only evidence about that command. Review behavior in the application, especially data changes and deployment configuration, before treating the task as finished.
